As before, the credit is: 20% of up to $10,000 of qualified education expenses. The maximum credit is $2,000 before any phase-outs. The Hope credit, provided by 26 U.S.C. § 25A(b), was available to taxpayers who have incurred expenses related to the first two years of post-secondary education.
