WebThe first was founded in 1926 by Dr. Don F. Cameron, while the second, known as Elmhurst, was established by Dr. Lester L. Eberhart in 1945. Eventually, in 1972, the two hospitals merged into one hospital—Cameron Memorial Community Hospital, which was located at its current site of 416 East Maumee Street in Angola, Indiana. Cameron Today The hospital traces its history back to City Hospital, an institution founded in 1832 on present-day Roosevelt Island. City Hospital was the second-oldest public hospital in the city and primarily served the poor. It stopped operating in 1957 but remains standing.
